Fixed, implant-supported and implant-assisted prosthetics
When several teeth in a row are missing, or a full arch needs replacing, an implant-supported prosthetic anchors the new teeth to a small number of implants instead of resting on the gum alone. An implant-assisted denture works a similar way, using a few implants to steady a denture that would otherwise rely on suction and the shape of the jaw. Both are fixed or clip in place rather than shifting while you eat or talk.
Dr. Christopher Martinez trained in implants and full-arch restorative work during his General Practice Residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, and the practice places and restores implants in the same office at 1000 Wigwam Parkway rather than sending patients elsewhere for part of the process. He is a general dentist, not a prosthodontist by specialty, and he treats this as a reason to plan a case carefully and involve a specialist referral when a situation genuinely calls for one, not as a reason to avoid the conversation.

Removable dentures and partials
A complete denture replaces an entire upper or lower arch and is designed to come out for cleaning each night. A partial denture fills in several missing teeth at once while leaving the remaining natural teeth in place, usually held with clasps that fit around them. Both are built from an impression of your mouth, so the fit is specific to you rather than a generic shape.

Chapter 03
Fit, adjustment and care over time
A denture or partial that fit well at delivery can start to feel loose months or years later, usually because the gum and bone underneath it change shape gradually over time. That is normal, and it is why an adjustment visit exists: a small reline or reshaping can restore the fit without starting over from a new impression.
Between visits, a removable prosthetic should come out overnight, get brushed with a non-abrasive cleaner rather than regular toothpaste, and sit in water or a denture solution so it does not dry out and warp.
